There's something about the leaves changing colors and falling that brings both serenity and sluggishness. It is beautiful, for instance, to walk through tree-lined streets with leaves in varying shades of golds, ambers, reds, and burnt orange. Those beautiful leaves create sluggishness when you realize the work it will take to rake them. They also produce something new as they break down into compost.
Not only is it a beautiful time of year, but the holidays are around the corner. The crisp weather leaves room for enjoying family around the fire and at the table. Who can resist savoring a family banquet at Thanksgiving or caroling with friends at yuletide.
I'm about to grab a toasty mug of hot chocolate and settle into sleep.
