it was the first day of summer
with wading pools to plunder
we packed up our lunches
and made our way through the bunches
of kids and B.O.B. strollers
you'd think we were high rollers
we soaked in the sun
and had so much fun
avoiding hot weather
having a blast together
glad summer waited
until busy season abated
many adventures are coming
all while we're becoming
tan bigger connected
with neighbors and friends and the rest
we'll report at the end of the quest
(september 23 -- first day of autumn)
