delight

just this afternoon, i stopped by a friend's house on my way home from afternoon school pick-up.  she mentioned, as she often does, my high capacity for chaos or something along those lines.
within a half hour of leaving her house, there were 7 kids in my house and backyard.
my boys and i have been anticipating this "chaos" for almost a week.
i/we believe in hospitality and we believe in good neighboring.
and our neighbors are more than just that, they're school friends too.
and we've known them for years.
last week, we arranged a post-school hang out pending behavior and homework time completed.
i wouldn't call what happened chaos; i'd call it delight.
there were 7 children who were delighted to dig, create, scoot, ride, seek, ask, explore, learn, and play.  and it lasted a glorious hour.
two of my highlights?  the week-long anticipation and then execution of sliced/peeled/cored apples.
making simple binoculars that EACH KID WORE AND USED, spotting airplanes and miscellaneous other important objects in the sky and yard.  simple delight.

we created an open invitation to more delightful terrific tuesdays, with our friends.
we hope to explore more together in the upcoming weeks!
