one thing i've noticed is that the longer you're involved in urban ministry and systemic change, the more critical civic engagement is.

this past week, a serendipitous inroad presented itself in that arena.
i was connecting with a ministry leader who connects people of faith all around the sacramento region around various issues and events.  he happened to be going to a meeting with an assembly member and a few others to address human trafficking in the area.  i asked to go and was invited to join.
what you might not know is that i'm restructuring SUPs (sacramento urban plunges) this year (more on that later) and i am dreaming of setting up a plunge revolving around human trafficking.
not only was the meeting and assembly member incredible, but i also now know that this assembly member has a strong intervarsity background.
i'm excited about our follow up meeting at the capital this week.
